Greetings!
Another quiz year is already upon us and so that means you're probably
already checking your calendars and marking dates for your district
quizzes as well as deciding what quiz tournaments you might be a part
of. As the director for Quizfest I hope that you have space in your
schedules on October 16, 2009 which is when we'll be having the 21st
annual Quizfest. I am particularly excited about one of the changes
we are making this year and it's a big one. The past few years we
have been limited in terms of space and room availability and each
year there have been a few teams that have not been able to come
because they missed the deadline and there was no more space to expand
the tournament.
This year will be the first year that Quizfest will be held just down the
road at Kankakee 1st Church of the Nazarene. I am hoping this change
will allow the tournament to expand, not just in terms of teams
participating but also in terms of available options for the
tournament structure. That being said, more possible quiz rooms means
we will possibly need more officials. If you know of anyone that
would like to officiate please direct them to the registration
website where they can register as an official. Last year we celebrated
the 20th year of Quizfest and I hope that there are another exciting 20
years ahead. I have attached all of the information that you'll need
to know if you're considering being a part of this event. If you are
a coach that has been here in recent years I'd love to have back again
this year. If you are a coach that has never been here before come
try it out! If you are a district director I'd appreciate your
support of not just this tournament but the many across the country by
making tournament information available to teams on your district.
The attached information will also be available online at
youthquiz.com and at nazquizzing.org and the online registration will
be up and running within just a few days on quizfest.nazquizzing.org.
This is the first year using this registration process via the
nazquizzing website and I hope that you will all familiarize yourself
with it as there are other tournaments that will be using the same set
up. This new process will allow you to log back in at a later time
and make any roster changes, correct name spelling, or make other team
changes as things change closer to the tournament. Below I'll post a
few reminders in regard to the registration process. If you have any
questions at all please feel free to email me or call me at
815-954-4037. On a side note, we will once again be having an Old
Timers Quiz on Friday night and those wishing to participate can also
register online. Thanks in advance for all that you do throughout the
year for the kids that you work with. I know it's been a short break
since "Q" and things are already rolling as this year is starting up
but this is such an important ministry for these young people and I'll
be praying for all of you for the energy and the guidance you need in
working with this special group of kids. Thank you for all you do!!!!
God Bless,
Ryan Kuehl
Registration Tidbits:
1. There are 3 divisions that people can register for on the webpage:
Experienced, Novice, and Old Timers. Please pay particular attention
to make sure you are registering in the right division, especially if
you are bringing multiple teams and you have one in each division.
2. You will be creating a login name and password for your church
account. To make things easier you'll want to keep a record of your
login info and possibly use it again if you are registering for other
tournaments using this same format. It will also be used in later
years so keep it handy. Following the tournament team and individual
stats will be placed on this site for easy access. We will also be
able to put updates on this page as far as pertinent information you
will need to know. I will still interact regularly via email but once
we get more situated with this site and see what capabilities are
available things may shift more over there.
3. This is a note from Bill: You will be entering your individual
member names BEFORE you enter your team names when registering. our
team name can be different than your church name so when it asks for
church name please enter your church name. It is not to be confused
with your team name but when it asks for team name you can feel free
to enter the church name again or whatever creative/absolutely random
thing your kids came up with.
4. The week before the quiz I will be sending out an email reminding
people to log back in and review their registered teams. PLEASE DO
THIS as the purpose of this registration change is to avoid some of
the last second changes that always come up. Previously you had no
way of checking what you actually registered until you arrived on site
but now you can double check what you registered as well as make any
corrections beforehand. The less things we have to do the day of or
night before the smoother the checking in process will be on site. |
